HUBLI: Lashing out at the Congress-led UPA government for its suppressive tendency on state governments, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that CBI has become a puppet in the hands of the UPA government. Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of Government Agriculture College at Krishi Vigyana Kendra in Hanumanmatti village, Ranebennur taluk here on Monday, he said: “The suppressive tendency of the UPA government is dangerous for democracy.” He averred that the Centre is misusing the CBI in many ways particularly in non-Congress ruling states. “The CBI is being used as a tool to tamper with the image of Gujarat, Bihar, UP and Karnataka.” “The arrest of Janardhan Reddy is a politically motivated one. It does not mean I will support illlegal activities. No one is bigger than the law of Land. Law will take its own course of action,” he added. On whether he was trying to convince former minister Sriramulu to withdraw his resignation from the state assembly, the chief minister merely nodded his head in consent. He further said, “BJP state president Eshwarappa and I along with national BJP leaders are pursuing the matter and I hope this crisis will be resolved soon. He announced that the law and order situation has been good in Karnataka and his government is committed to the overall development of the state. On who will lead the Koppal by-election campaign, Gowda said that he, Eshwarappa and former CM Yeddyurappa along with senior BJP leaders will work in the campaign.
