TRIPUNITHURA: ‘Subhayathra’, the ten-day road safety awareness programme conducted by the Hill Palace Police Station here concluded on Thursday.On the last day of the programme, Student Police Cadets from the Sree Venketeswara School and Government Boys Vocational Higher Secondary School in Tripunithura handed over cards bearing road safety rules to pedestrians and motorists at the private bus stand. Malayalam actress Kalpana joined the student police cadets to spread the road safety messages. After the distribution of the cards, she noted that more of such people-friendly awareness programmes should be conducted in the future. “In case of occurrence of an accident, people on the spot should be able to take action. This will help in saving many precious lives,” she added.“The awareness campaign touched every part of the town. The student police cadets have become an inspiration for the people. Even the public responded positively to the programme and showed enthusiasm in reading the pledge printed on the cards and signing them. The idea to include student police cadets and film actors in the campaign was to attract more people to the programme,” said T R Jayakumar, Traffic Circle Inspector, Tripunithura.Tripunithura Municipal Vice-chairperson Thilothama Suresh, Hill Palace Circle Inspector Baiju Paulose, Sub Inspectors P C Skariya and M M Mohanan, were also present at the valedictory function.
