Students take to environmental issues seriously

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Eco Club members of Mannam Memorial Residential HSS, Neeramankara, have gone beyond their textbooks to learn about how man is degrading soil quality.The students of Class X - Athira Ajay, Keerthi B R, Pavithra R, Aadithya B Raj and Sooraj V - under the guidance of their teacher S Jayasree, conducted their study in Ponnumangalam ward near Vellayani lake. It was as part of their project ‘Land and land resources’. As part of the follow-up activities, the students conducted awareness classes, distributed pamphlets and biofertilizers to the local people and also started a bio-compost unit. The report comprising suggestions for solving the problems was submitted to Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan by the students.
