BANGALORE: Efforts to inculcate the habit of savings at a young age by the Government of India through the Sanchayika scheme has borne fruit with students from Stree Sangha Middle School saving up toRs 93,883 during the year 2010-2011.Celebrating Sanchayika Day, in association with the National Savings Institute, the school has encouraged the habit of savings since the inception of the scheme. The Sanchayika scheme allows students to run a Sanchayika Bank for other students. “The students of 5th, 6th and 7th standards are encouraged to deposit savings in the Sanchayika account every Saturday”, said Ravikiran, a student.Sheuli Burman, director, Postal Service, said the savings would help students to secure a better future.The highest depositors are encouraged with prizes every year.
