Mumbai: Physicist Stephen Hawking, whose life has been captured in 'The Theory of Everything', was initially worried that the biopic will find no takers.

The scientist thought that since the movie was based on a book by ex-wife Jane Hawking, it might be a biased portrayal of their relationship.

"I was rather surprised that a major film company should want to make a film about me. At first, I was worried because it was based on a book by my ex-wife, Jane, but I was reassured when I read the script, and even more when I saw a first cut of the film," Hawking, who turned 73 recently, said, according to Universal Pictures India.

'The Theory of Everything', which is one of the front-runners for the Oscar nominations, recently won Eddie Redmayne a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Hawking's romance with Jane Wilde and his struggle to live with motor neuron disease.

The movie releases in Indian theatres on January 16.
