Srilakshmi suffers sciatic pain again

Suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi had another bout of acute sciatic nerve pain on Monday but chose to suffer it in silence as she was reluctant to undergo an operation in the general ward of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here as suggested.

Srilakshmi, who has been in the Chanchalguda central jail for several months in connection with the Obulapuram mining lease case, wants admission to a special ward of the hospital if she is to undergo surgery.

According to jail officials, she has been suffering from pain for the last four days and has been taking painkillers for relief but has refused to get admitted to the general ward of the hospital.

The jail doctors are monitoring her health all the time as she is unable to move. “She intends to approach the court for admission to a special ward in the NIMS,” a jail official said.

After going through the reports of the medical tests conducted recently, NIMS and Osmania General Hospital doctors suggested an immediate operation on her left leg where she is experiencing severe pain which, if delayed, could worsen.

But, as she was asked to get admitted to the general ward, she asked the jail officials to take her back to her cell.

Seeks Bail on Health Ground

HYDERABAD: Citing ill health, suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi filed an application before the special court for CBI cases here on Monday, seeking bail.

The accused in the Obulapuram mining case told the court that she was suffering from a cardiac ailment and high levels of cholesterol in her blood.

He counsel V Surender Rao said Srilakshmi was a chronic patient suffering from pain on the left side of the chest which is diagnosed as `prinzmetal angina”, a cardiac ailment. She is also suffering from high levels of cholesterol in her blood.

“Srilakshmi, who has been in custody since January 6, is suffering from severe pain in her left leg. The condition has also narrowed down the spinal canal size leading to irritation of the spinal nerves,’’ the petition said.

The matter was posted for hearing on October 3.
