KOCHI: The state government on Monday submitted that the investigation into the death of Sr Mary Ancy of Holy Spirit Convent, Thiruvananthapuram, was in progress. The Additional Advocate General (AAG) made the submission on a petition filed by Mathai Philip, father of the deceased nun, alleging that the investigation so far has neither been effective nor impartial.AAG P C Iype, who is appearing for the state government, submitted that a progress report would be filed next week. After recording the AAG’s submission, Justice N K Balakrishnan adjourned the case to next week. Sr Ancy was found deadin a water tank on the premises of the convent on August 17.The petitioner has also sought a direction to the government to appoint a team including senior police officers and monitoring of the case by the Neyyattinkara Judicial First Class Magistrate for a fair investigation. He argued that the investigating officers did not ensure the presence of the blood relatives of the deceased at the time of preparing the inquest. The petitioner further argued that the inquest report is so glaringly false that it does not mention a single external body injury whereas the post-mortem reveals certain injuries giving suspicions of a homicide.
