BANGALORE: Vowing to fulfill the dream of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to turn Karnataka as the “hutless state” in the coming years, Housing Minister V Somanna has informed that his department have taken a proactive measures to issue record of rights (Patta) to all slum dwellers in the city in next two months.Addressing newsmen after chairing a high-level meeting of the officials of the BBMP, BDA, Slum Development Corporation, Housing and some of the city legislators, here on Wednesday, Minister for Housing Somanna informed that state government have decided to provide houses to all the families living in over 571 slums in and around Bangalore in the coming few years.Informing that a comprehensive survey in all the slums located in Bangalore is being done and on the verge of completion the housing minister said that t h e s t a t e government have evolved a plan to provide shelter to all the slum dwellers either by constructing multi-storeyed residential plots or to legalize the houses in which they were living.“It was decided to charge Rs 20 per sq feet and hand over records of rights to each families living in their slum dwellings in Bangalore and other cities and towns,” the housing minister said.
