Shilpa to host cricket reality show
There’s a strong buzz that Shilpa may soon co-host the UK version of a reality cricket show.

New Delhi: She is one victim who perhaps won’t regret being victimised.

For all the hullabaloo over the racial abuse she was subjected to on UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother, actor Shilpa Shetty may have inadvertently benefited.

Not only has she become one of the most discussed persons in the UK media and occupies a considerable mindspace among the British audience, there’s a strong buzz that Shilpa may soon co-host the UK version of a reality cricket show based on the Indian Idol.

According to a PRNewswire-Asianet release Shilpa is said to be in talks with the Investors in Cricket, the owners of the Cricket Star TV show, said here quoting the producers of the show.

Cricket Star was launched on Indian television last week, presented by the Bollywood personality Shweta Salve (of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa fame), along with a host of cricket celebrities including Kapil Dev, Saurav Ganguly and England's cricketer Monty Panesar.

The show has met with a phenomenal response in India, with 25,000 applications from across the country in a three-week application period and a 12-city audition process.

It is the first reality show to be screened on the National Broadcaster (DD) and simulcast on the Zee TV network.

"Cricket is a racially integrated sport across the world, and ignites huge passion in India. While it is not the most popular sport in the UK, it is undergoing a large revival, and it is a critically important sport for the integration of British Asians in the UK. Hence, Shilpa will be the perfect host," CEO of Cricket Star, Fraser Castellino was quoted as saying.
