Shabana dedicates her award to Hyd
Shabana Azmi dedicated her coveted Akkineni Nageswara Rao Award to the city of great culture, Hyderabad.

New Delhi: After winning the International Gandhi Peace Prize, the first Indian to get the award, actor and social activist Shabana Azmi was conferred the Akkineni Nageswara Rao Award on Saturday night.

The actress, however, dedicated her coveted award to the city of great culture, Hyderabad and to the thousands of film technicians, who work behind the scene.

“I was born in this great city of Nawabs. It was here that my father fell in love with my mother, who herself was a Hyderabadi. I owe a lot to the city,” news agency UNI quoted her as saying after receiving the Award.

“I have won many awards. But I value this award very much as the award came from the film fraternity,” she added.

Shabana said she drew inspiration from the Union Minister Meira Kumar, who had been working for the upliftment of the poor people.

She also thanked the Union Minister of State for Mines T Subba Rami Reddy for rendering great help in the Rajya Sabha in discharging her duties.
