More than 100 candidates who have passed the Karnataka Education Services Exam are on an indefinite hunger strike alleging that the Education Department has failed to secure posts for them despite vacancies. At a press conference, they alleged that despite several appeals to the State Government, there is no response from anyone. Ashwini K N, who was ranked 176, passed the preliminary and main exam in 2009. The interview list which was supposed to come out in 2009 was finally announced in September 2010. Following that, there was a gazetted notification of selected candidates in 2011. She alleged that she had not received the appointment order till date.“The government is misleading candidates. Through a RTI application, we have found that there are 1,132 posts vacant in the state.
