The apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur, has said that it is for Parliament to take a call on the issue.

According to the bench, it does not fall under the Supreme Court to issue a direction on the issue.

The PIL was filed in a bid to enact the uniform civil code to put an end to discrimination faced by Muslim women.
