NELLORE: A Scheduled Caste boy, who had been beaten black and blue by the hostel warden last month for refusing to serve him at home, succumbed to injuries while being treated at a hospital in Chennai on Saturday.The victim, G Prabhat (14), was the son of farmhands Krishnaiah and Narasamma of Paderu village in Chejerla mandal. A student of Class IX, he was staying at the Toorpu Kambampadu (TK Padu) SC Hostel. On July 18 he was beaten up severely by hostel warden K Brahmaiah for refusing to do chores in his house. Braving injuries, the boy kept attending classes till August 1. Next day, he collapsed in the hostel and was admitted to a private hospital and was shifted later to the Putchlapalli Ramachandra Reddy People’s Clinic. Doctors said he suffered critical injuries on his spinal cord and advised the parents to shift him to Chennai. On Aug 5, he was admitted to the Chennai General Hospital where he died.
