Sania was beaten in straight sets by Gisela Dulko of Argentina 4-6, 5-7.
Sania, who had made it to the semis with wins over Tamarine Tanasugaran of Thailand and Italian Mara Santangelo in previous rounds, couldn't keep the momentum going and went down in straight sets to her higher ranked opponent.
Sania next plays the Bangalore Open and will be hoping for an improved performance in front of her home crowd.
