VISAKHAPATNAM: For the first time in the district, a bidder today quoted a whopping Rs 5.75 crore for sand quarrying at river bed of Varaha river in Kothagotiwada of Kotauratla mandal of the district. The bidders quoted Rs1.02 crore for sand quarrying at a river bed of Sarada in Chinthalapudi of Devarapale mandal.During the open auction for sand quarrying held at four places in the district, the mines and geology department earned Rs 9.85 crore against the upset price of Rs 13.74 lakh.The base price was fixed at Rs 2.4 lakh for Kothagotiwada. The bid is valid for two years. But one of the bidder quoted Rs 5.75 cr. Meanwhile, the base price was fixed at Rs 4.8 lakh for sand quarrying at Panduru of Kotauratla mandal but one of the bidders quoted Rs 2.35 crore.The base price was fixed at Rs 3.84 lakh at Tamaramma of Devarapalle mandal in the district and a bidder quoted Rs 73 lakh while another bidder quoted Rs 1.02 crore for sand quarrying at Chinthalapudi in the mandal against the base price of Rs 2.7 lakh.
