New Delhi: Sahil Zaroo, co-accused in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, on Thursday approached the Delhi High Court challenging the trial court order framing charges against him under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Filing a petition before the Court of Justice S Ravinder Bhat, Zaroo, Mahajan's friend, sought quashing of the on going proceedings in the trial court on the ground that he has been falsely implicated by the police in the case.
On January 6, the trial court had framed charges against Zaroo for illegally buying drugs for Mahajan, son of late Pramod Mahajan, from two Nigerian nationals on the intervening night of June 1 and 2.
Besides Zaroo the court also framed charges against Mahajan, Nigerian nationals Abdul Lateef Ashola and Egbedokun James Taiwo, the alleged drug peddlers, Harish Sharma, a close aide of late Pramod Mahajan and servant Ganesh Sinha for various sections of the NDPS Act and IPC.
Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, was admitted to hospital on June one night, last year following alleged drug consumption.
Mahajan and his father's private secretary Vivek Moitra, who died in the hospital, had allegedly consumed morphine and cocaine on the fateful night, the prosecution claimed.
