The state government sanctioned Rs 44 lakh to set up a combined oxygen plant at the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital and the Government Maternity Hospital in Tirupati.
A government order was issued in pursance of the matter from the special development fund for welfare and developmental activities.
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had promised the oxygen plant for the hospital during his visit to Tirupati on February 11 this year. The decision is important in the wake of furore caused by the deaths of infants at the children’s unit in the Ruia hospital recently due to alleged shortage of ventilators and oxygen.
The government also sanctioned Rs 65 lakh for the construction of a medical record section at the Government Maternity Hospital in Tirupati, to be constructed as per the norms of Medical Council of India (MCI).
Further, another Rs 44 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of water storage sump on the permises of the maternity hospital.
