Rolls-Royce comes calling at Collectorate

KOCHI: It was a different experience for the Ernakulam District Collector and a bunch of officials at the Collectorate when a new Rolls-Royce arrived at the civil station on Monday. The vehicle, worth `3 crore, was registered at the RTO office. An amount of `1.6 crore was paid as Customs duty,  of which the Motor Vehicles Department got `24.39 lakh. Immediately after the vehicle was brought to the Collectorate, the officials gathered near it to have a look. Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, along with RTO T J Thomas, took a short ride in the new car.The vehicle was registered under Pratap Foundation for Education and Training. An amount of `3.15 lakh was paid towards the insurance premium of the vehicle.
