Roll back milk price hike, demands BJP

PUDUCHERRY: The state unit of the BJP organised a signature campaign here on Sunday to highlight their demand that the N Rangasamy-led government withdraw the recently announced milk price hike. Party state secretary R V Saminathan, who launched the campaign at Lawspet, said the hike came at a time when people were reeling under the spiraling prices of essential commodities.The government’s announcement of a hike in the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) added to their burden, he pointed out. The `5 hike in the prices of toned milk cannot be justified and should be withdrawn, he said.Earlier, CPM local unit secretary V Perumal also demanded a rollback of the hike in milk prices.
