CHENNAI: DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Friday urged the State Government to make public the documents it relied on while deciding in favour of the Agri-Horticultural Society in respect of a property on Cathedral Road here worth Rs 200 crore. In a statement, Karunanidhi wondered why the government had not put in public domain the documents filed by honorary secretary of the society, V Krishnamurthy, with the Collector of Chennai based on which the government decided in favour of the society. Earlier this month, he charged the AIADMK regime with ‘parting’ with the Cathedral Road property. Subsequently, Chennai Collector (in-charge) KA Annamalai rebutted MK’s charge. His order specifying a stretch of four Cawney, 18 grounds and 1,683 sq ft of land on Cathedral Road as belonging to the Agri-Horticultural Society was based on documents and as per the directive of the Madras High Court, Annamalai clarified. He further claimed that Krishnamurthy submitted to him an affidavit and related documents as well. “The documents were verified and found to be genuine,” the Collector had said.Against this backdrop, Karunanidhi has asked the government to disclose the documents that it relied on to decide in favour of the society besides giving evidence for the purchase of land by the Horticultural Society.
