BHUBANESWAR: The BJD members on Saturday levelled corruption charges against former Urban Development minister and Leader of the BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo for the second time during the session even as he reiterated his readiness to face any inquiry. Let the Government announce in the House an inquiry into these charges, he said. Referring to allegations made by BJD members against him, Singhdeo said the issue has been mentioned in the 2007-08 CAG report. Stating that CAG reports are preliminary, Singhdeo said it is further examined by the public accounts of the committee (PAC) of the House. Stating that he is ready to face probe by any organisation, be it the CBI, Vigilance or Crime Branch, the BJP leader said allegations against all other departments should also be inquired into. He said urban bodies were given ` 98 crore for implementation of solid waste management plan. The chairpersons of the urban local bodies (ULBs) took the decision, not the minister, to purchase equipment, he said. Referring to the purchase of tractors for implementation of the scheme, Singhdeo said a tender was called for this. The urban bodies were told to purchase tractors as per the specifications given by the technical committee’s recommendations, he said. Singhdeo announced that he would retire from public life if any corruption charge is proved against him. But at the same time purchase of pipes for supply of drinking water in the ULBs should also be probed. Prabhat Biswal (BJD) alleged that Singhdeo had favoured a particular company _ Sampark Motors _ bypassing Mahindra and Mahindra which was L1 in the tender for purchase of tractors for the ULBs for implementation of the solid waste management scheme. His party colleague Bishnu Das again alleged that purchase of equipment worth ` 100 crore was made without any tender.
