Chennai: Hundreds of supporters of Baba Ramdev on Saturday staged a one-day fast at various places across Tamil Nadu, expressing solidarity with the yoga guru who began his indefinite hunger strike in Delhi over the black money issue.

In the city, scores of persons belonging to Ramdev's Patanjali Trust and some pro-Hindu outfits like Hindu Makkal Katchi held the protest near the women's arts college off arterial Anna Road.

Similar protests were held in districts including Coimbatore, Villupuruam, Kancheepuram, Salem and Namakkal, police said in Chennai.

A Coimbatore report said the protestors, including a few women, under the banner of Bharat Nirmaan Trust (BNT) and Pantanjali Trust, were supported by over 100 people who began a relay hunger strike.

BNT General Secretary Komal Jain said the trust had also undertaken a signature campaign in support of their demands including steps to bring back blackmoney stashed away abroad.
