Rains lash parts of UP, brings mercury down; Etawah coldest at 8.8 deg C

Light to moderate rains occurred at a few places in Uttar Pradesh with heavy thundershowers reported from isolated places in the state.

Thakurdwara recorded seven cms of rainfall, while Billari, Handa, Naraini recorded three cms each, Mahroni, Barra, Karchana, Varanasi, Allahabad, Muzaffarnagar two cms each and Ghazipur, Churk, Amroha, Lalitpur, Sambhal, Phoolpur one cm each, the MeT office said here.

Hail storm occurred at isolated places in west UP.

Night temperatures appreciably fell in Moradabad division, fell in Varanasi and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

They were appreciably above normal in Faizabad, Agra, Lucknow, above normal in Gorakhpur, Allahabad and were normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Lowest minimum temperature in the state was 8.8 degrees Celsius recorded at Etawah.

The Met office has forecast rain/thundershowers at few places in the state tomorrow.
