Rain dampened plans, says Mayor

Though the trial was a success of sorts, the pathetic condition of the roads through which the traffic got diverted caused trouble to the commuters.The Corporation and the Kochi Metro Rail authorities had earlier assured that these roads would be repaired before the trail run. The Kerala Construction Corporation has been entrusted with the repair works of major roads. But so far not a single road has been repaired. The roads to be repaired as per the actual contract include Veekshanam Road, C P Ummer Road, Thammanam-Pulleppady Road, Kathrikkadau under passage, Pious Road, Azad  Road, St Benedict Road and Rajaji Road.Meanwhile Mayor Tony Chammany on Monday, reiterated that roads would be repaired as soon as there is respite from rain. “The Kerala Construction Corporation was about to start the repair works before Onam, but the heavy rain continued to be a hindrance. We are  hopeful of completing the road works before September,” said the Mayor.
