New Delhi: Rahul Mukerjea is being brought to Delhi for further questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case.
On Monday night, media baron Peter Mukerjea was brought to the national capital after the court extended his custody till November 26. Peter will be questioned by the CBI on financial deals which is seen to be a possible motive behind the murder
The CBI is likely to scrutinise accounts held jointly by Indrani and Peter Mukerjea. The source of money in several accounts, including ones in HDFC, Barclays and Kotak Mahindra, is also likely to be probed.
Rahul is considered to be an "important link" in the high-profile case as he has handed over several documents allegedly used by Sheena Bora to "blackmail" her mother Indrani Mukerjea, who is accused of murdering her.
According to investigators, Sheena, who was engaged to Rahul, was blackmailing Indrani that if she did not give her a 3-BHK flat in the city, she would expose her by telling people that she was Indrani's daughter and not sister, as the latter had claimed.
Moreover, the exchange of e-mails between Rahul, his father Peter and step-mother Indrani has brought new revelations in the case.
Rahul, who was trying to trace Sheena after her sudden disappearance on April 24, 2012, started recording telephonic conversation he had with Peter and Indrani over Sheena's whereabouts as he found their replies evasive and inconsistent.
He had given these audio clips to the police before the probe was transferred to CBI.
As per the chargesheet filed by CBI in court, Indrani was against Rahul's relationship with Sheena as she feared that Sheena will become inheritor of entire property of her and Peter, which is suspected to be the prime motive behind the murder.
Though Sheena, the daughter of high-profile media professional Indrani Mukerjea, was allegedly murdered in 2012 and her body disposed of in Raigad district, the crime came to light only recently.
