Puducherry bandh as planned, says AIADMK
College students have tonsured their heads to urge the Centre to support the US sponsored UN resolution against Sri Lanka.

Puducherry: Opposition AIADMK on Tuesday said the dawn to dusk bandh on Wednesday, urging the UPA government to back the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka at UNHRC at Geneva on March 23, would be held as scheduled.

This was stated in a party press release in Puducherry. Functinoaries of AIADMK's local unit on Tuesday distributed pamphlets at various centres, asking traders, fleet operators, auto and tempo workers, students and others to respond 'massively to the bandh'.

Private Bus operators association sources said bus services would remain suspended.

AIADMK local unit secretary A Anbalagan, MLA had already stated the bandh was also intended to criticise the 'silence' of Chief Minister N Rangasamy over the issue.

Meanwhile, some students of Government Tagore Arts College tonsured their heads to urge the Centre to support the US sponsored resolution.
