Several protest programmes against Emerging Kerala took place in the city on  Wednesday.

A protest march in which activists of all major parties and enviromentalist activists participated started from Valanjambalam to Le Meridien in the morning. It was blocked by the police.

Later CPM activists conducted an Anti-Emerging Keral seminar and a protest rally at the High Court Junction.

A group of DYFI activists from Maradu rallied to Le Meridien. BJP and AYIF activists also took out protest rallies from Vyttila to the Emerging Kerala venue.

All were blocked by the police. Following this the activists staged a dharna on the national highway.

They were chased out by the police so that traffic could function smoothly. At Josco junction CPML, social and environmental organisations conducted a rally.

The security of the venue was complete with almost 600 police personnel and Special Protection Force deployed in Le Meridien.

Traffic Protest marches have disrupted traffic on MG road, South-Vyttila road and National Highway. The traffic was otherwise blocked at Thoppumpady, Willingdon Island, Vathurthy area and Kundannoor when the Prime Minister’s motorcade passed through. No security issues were reported in the city. The city was fully under the cover of the police.
