New Delhi: Islamic Research Foundation, the NGO run by controversial preacher Zakir Naik, may soon be barred from receiving foreign funds with the Union Home Ministry issuing a notice to the foundation for cancellation of its FCRA licence.
"We served the notice on IRF on Monday for FCRA licence cancellation," a ministry official told News18.
The move came after different investigations found Naik to be "involved" in utilising funds meant for the NGOs for alleged radicalisation of youths and "inspiring" them into terror activities, PTI quoted official sources as saying.
According to a draft note, which is based on the inputs from Maharashtra Police, Naik, who heads the IRF, has allegedly made many provocative speeches and engaged in terror propaganda.
