Ten stray dogs and a cat were poisoned to death at Gopal Naidu Nagar near Peelamedu, here on Sunday. The carcasses were found on the roadside at Lal Bahadur Colony, Jagannathan Nagar, Singar Nagar and Duraisamy Layout and officials who visited the spot said that the animals were poisoned with toxic Furadan-laced meat.
In an incident at Nallampalayam Road last month, 15 stray dogs, seven birds and a cat were found poisoned by Carbofuran pesticide. According to P K Rajendran, Councillor of ward 39 said the locals were suffering from stray dog menace for a long time.
