Plan to curb electrical mishaps

HYDERABAD: Recognising the severity of electrical accidents in several parts of the state particularly Mahbubnagar, Anantapur, Kurnool, Medak and East Godavari districts, AP power utilities are contemplating an action plan to avoid electrical accidents.Disclosing this at a review meeting held on Monday evening at Vidyut Soudha, APTransco chairman and MD Hiralal Samariya, said there is a need to take up pre-monsoon maintenance works such as pole-to-pole inspections, trimming of tree branches near power lines, reinforcement of earthing in sub-stations by deploying special teams.He said prevention of electrical accidents is the top priority of the power utilities and suggested the discoms to take up safety measures and create awareness among the staff and people.During substation level meetings the farmers should be apprised of the importance of electrical safety and the measures to be taken to avoid accidents.
