BANGALORE: Creativity, state of the art design, aerodynamics and of course speed -- when all these come together, then it leads to F1 racing.In order to promote Formula One in India, Red Bull hosted an event for students all over India called, ‘Red Bull Racing Can.’ In Bangalore the event was held at Chitra Kala Parishath (CKP) on August 10.The participants were given 45 days time prior to the qualifying race, to come up with a model car that is made out of used Red Bull cans. The model then would be placed on a remote control toy car that was be provided by Red Bull and the contest begins. The first round of qualification was based on the design of the car by the participants.This was judged by the city. The participants had a week’s time to put their design on Facebook and models with maximum number of “likes” qualifies to participate in the qualifying race at CKP. Out of 60 teams that signed up, 12 were selected to race, based on the number of likes that they achieved in a span of a week.Next comes the speed and handling of the driver. The race was divided into two groups of six teams each. The fastest three teams of the both the groups would then race off again to take the number one spot of the city.The race was an easy win to the team ‘Race Dynamics’ consisting of Binoy John and Rahul Sharan from Christ University. This happen across India, in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. The winner of the city level, met at Delhi to participate and take the top spot and represent India at the International Level held at UK.From Bangalore the duo was sent to Delhi a few days ago to represent Bangalore city. The second round was based only on speed, the duo excelled at that too. The team took the top spot and qualified to participate at the International Level and represent India. Binoy said, “Most engineering students participated in this. We have no engineering background. I am doing my BBM while my teammate Rahul is doing Psychology.Most of the famous engineering colleges in India participated, and we feel really great finishing first with our design.” The team ‘Race Dynamics’ will be racing at the International level this month at the F1 Factory in the UK. The race will witness students participating from different countries such as China, Japan, USA, Australia and few others countries.For the first time India will be participating in this contest. Binoy John said, “This is a like a dream come true. For us it has been really great so far. I can’t describe the emotions I’m going through. I’m sure money can’t buy this happiness. I’m looking forward to the final race at the F1 Factory.”
