PUDUCHERRY: AINRC MLA Ashok Anand, on Friday, vacated his office as the Chairman of the Pondicherry Agro Service and Industries Corporation (PASIC).He said that he was unable to execute his responsibilities resulting in huge loses incurred by the PSU.  However,he said that he has not resigned from the post. speaking to Express Anand alleged that board members of the Corporation didn’t  cooperate with him. “There are no fund to pay salaries and bonuses  to the employees. On moral grounds I decided to return my office car and close the office to avoid undue expenditure,“ he said. Anand later reported the matter to Chief minister N Rangasamy. The government Corporation was beset with problems when he took charge as chairman on September 15. The corporation had suffered a net loss of Rs 40 to 45 crore in the past two- and-half-years. He blamed the previous Congress government for the issue. The salaries had not been disbursed to the employees for some five to eight months and even the Deepavali bonus had not been paid. However Rs 1 crore was given by the government recently as share capital from which a month’s salary was paid. But in the last two to three days making any discussion with the managing director and other officials on the bonus issue remained unfeasible as they did not get back to me on the bonus issue, said Anand.Anand said that balance sheet of the company had gone unaccounted for three years,  2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, which he found out at the first board meeting he chaired after assuming charge as Chairman in October. He said that he did not get any cooperation from agriculture secretary and managing director of the mill to devise a road map to revive the corporation , which had been a profit making one giving dividends to the government.  Anand said that 500 regular employees and another 400 voucher paid workers were dependent on the corporation for their livelihood. Claiming that 70 per cent of the workers were doing their job correctly and it would be unfair to dump them.
