KOCHI: Seven persons were arrested by the Crime Branch team probing the Paravoor sex scandal on Thursday.Six of them belonged to a gang in Kochi and the other person is from Thodupuzha. The gang members were Aneesh, 24, Siju alias Antony, 26, Nishad, 25, Salah Jamal, 24, Muhammed Niyaz, 25, and Jijo Antony, 26 - all of whom are from Vennala here. According to the Crime Branch officials, the gang members barged into a house at Vennala where an agent identified as Beena had brought the 14-year-old girl for immoral trafficking. They threatened the agent and allegedly sexually abused both the girl and the agent. Benny Abraham, 35, from Muttom in Thodupuzha, was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing the girl at his residence. The girl was presented to him by an agent.The arrested were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. The sexual abuse of the 14-year-old girl came to light three months ago after her mother lodged a complaint before the police stating that her husband had forcibly taken her daughter to prostitution. Based on the submissions made by the girl and her mother, the police registered a case and launched a probe.
