New Delhi: Debutant director Sachin Gupta is looking forward to explore the bylanes of the Walled city in his upcoming film 'Paranthe Wali Gali', which began shooting here today.
Starring Anuj Saxena of 'Kumkum' fame and Neha Pawar in lead roles, the film has been named after the 'Paranthe Wali Gali', the old Delhi's famous lane known for its wide variety of paranthas.
"'Paranthe Wali Gali' is a different film and will try to show the unexplored things in Delhi. The film will be shot around Sadar Baazar, Chawari Baazar and Kanari Baazar. Everything will be shot on location. We are not creating any sets," Gupta told PTI.
"The shooting of the film will start from Paranthe Wali lane and then move into the lives of characters living there. The film will showcase the resilience, enduring culture and heritage of the area, that has withstood the test of the time and remains as vibrant as ever," the director said.
Gupta has extensive background in theatre. He has worked on 13 original productions and three Broadway shows in New York. The director said shooting in the crowded area was not a problem as people were very helpful.
"In the film, we are trying to touch that part of Delhi that has not been explored till now," he added.
Saxena, who plays a read role as 'paratha wala' in the film, said he was happy to work with Gupta.
The Delhi born actor is looking forward to explore the city through the film.
"It is second home to me, I may not come to Delhi much often of late but I have a strong association with the city, my close associates and relatives are here. I love everything associated with Delhi. The food here is wonderful and it has
wonderful people," Saxena said.
Vasundhara Das, the Bangalore-based playback singer, has given music in the film.
