New Delhi: Acclaimed painter Manjit Bawa's condition continues to be critical, a week after he was admitted to a Delhi hospital, say doctors.

Bawa, 64, was taken to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital last Saturday night after he complained of uneasiness and severe headache.

"He is still in the ICU. A team of doctors are keeping a close watch on his health," said a senior doctor.

But he declined to give details of his health condition. "Bawa's family does not want to talk about his health."

However, a hospital source said that doctors have concluded that Bawa has a "blood clot in his brain".

Bawa, born in Dhuri, Punjab, in 1941, is known for his striking paintings, depicting Hindu mythological figures, animals, farmers, street performers, and Sufi saints.

Bawa is also a reputed sculptor, stage and film actor. In 1998, he acted in a Bollywood movie Dil Se.
