New Delhi: Pakistan is planning to make a formal proposal to India on opening the Line of Control (LoC) to facilitate movement of Kashmiri people on both sides of the divide to help quake relief efforts.
?The protocol and conditions for throwing open the LoC for residents of Kashmir will be settled through consultations between the two countries,? Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Wednesday after a meeting with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik in Islamabad.
He added that this would be the perfect opportunity for Kashmiri people to help each other.
Pakistan?s Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said, ?Currently, internal discussions are taking place. We hope to contact the government of India shortly,? adding that the proposal would be made through diplomatic channels.
Pakistani officials hope that by opening the LoC divided families can meet, share each other's grief and help each other in whatever way they can.
