In a fatal accident, a motorist was crushed to death in Ahmedabad after a Gujarat state transport bus hit his two-wheeler. The accident happened near the city’s Bhulabhai Park crossing on April 19, when a speeding Amdavad Municipal Transport Services (AMTS) bus rammed into a two-wheeler coming from the other side.
The man, identified as 52-year-old Navin Patel, reportedly died on the spot. During the time of the accident, Patel was not wearing a helmet.
A CCTV video of the accident has gone viral on social media. In the video, the motorist in a red shirt can be seen crossing the road on his two-wheeler.

He tried to apply the brakes after seeing a speeding bus coming from his left side. However, by the time he slowed down, the AMTS bus rammed into his bike.
The bike fell on the road due to the impact and the speeding bus passed on mowing the driver under it.
After the incident came to light, the driver of the bus was removed from service and subsequently arrested. He was booked under sections 304A, 279, 337, 427 of the Indian Penal Code and 177, 134B, 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The bus was seized.
Furthermore, the private operator of the bus (Arham) has been fined Rs 2 lakh by the AMTS.
