At least four people died and eight others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Thoppur Ghat Road in Tamil Nadu’s Dharmapuri district. CCTV footage of the accident captured the sequence of events involving four vehicles.
According to an India Today report, the visuals showed a speeding truck ramming into another truck, the impact of which crushed a car caught between the two vehicles. Amid the chaos, another vehicle lost control and fell off the bridge.

One of the trucks caught fire after the collision. Upon being notified, the fire brigade reached the site of the accident and brought the blaze under control.
Following the accident, Dharmapuri DMK MP Senthil Kumar reiterated his demand to complete the pending elevated National Highway works to prevent such incidents.
“More the reason why we are insisting on the speedy implementation of the sanctioned elevated highway at Thoppur Ghat section in Dharmapuri,” Kumar was quoted by India Today as saying.
In December 2023, several vehicles collided one after the other near Doddajala on the Bengaluru airport road in Karnataka. A video of the incident on the Chikkajala Flyover showed at least six cars damaged after a collision with each other.
No causalities were reported in the accident, however, few people sustained minor injuries.
