BANGALORE: Signs of the economic slow down may be dropping hints as the city witnessed a 10% decline in recruitment in the month of October when compared to the previous month. The Naukri Job Speak Index stated that all key industry sectors and functional areas of the city have witnessed dips in their hiring activity.Added to the possible global slow down, the index cited that the double digit percentage dip in hiring could be attributed to the festive season spanning across October. But they also said that the Oct-11 index at 997 is 7% higher than the Oct-10 index.Meanwhile, the industry sources said that the dipping figures were not just confined to the city as all the other IT hubs of the country like Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai witnessed 19%, 18 % and 17% dips in their hiring activities.“A look at the index for the past two years shows that there is usually a seasonal dip in hiring during the festive season. However, this year hiring activity has been exceptionally low in October as most employers seem to be adopting a more cautious hiring approach,” Hitesh Oberoi, CEO and MD, Info Edge said. The index also said that IT Software and ITES sectors dipped by 13% and 3% respectively in October when compared to September.
