THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rangaprabhat Children’s Theatre, Venjaramoodu, is organising a National Theatre Festival from September 27 to October 1. The theatre festival, organised in connection with the fourth death anniversary of its founder K Kochunarayana Pillai, will be held at Rangaprabhat Theatre Complex. Minister for Cultural Affairs K C Joseph will inaugurate the festival at 6.30 pm on Tuesday. The festival is organised in association with the Union Ministry of Culture. As part of the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, plays based on his writings have been included in the festival. Kannada play ‘Giddu Tylorana Saahasagalu’ directed by M Bhagavati will be staged at 7.30 pm on Tuesday. ‘Lesson’ directed by M G Jyothish of Abhinaya theatre and ‘Totochan’ by Manoj Narayanan will be presented on the second day. Telugu play ‘Okka Raju Katha’ and Malayalam play ‘Kabuliwallah and Daughter’ will be staged on Thursday. Tamil play ‘Uruvavum Ullavum’ and Malayalam play ‘Kanniyude Makkal’ based on a story by Tagore will be staged on the fourth day. Tamil play ‘Kuthiai Muttai’ and Malayalam play ‘Post Master’ will be staged on October 1. Minister for Devaswom and Transport V S Sivakumar will inaugurate the closing ceremony on October 1. Vilakkudi Rajendran, secretary, Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan, will deliver the commemorative speech.
