Beerman aka Ravindra Kantrole has been convicted on murder charges.

New Delhi: Accused of being Mumbai's serial killer and dubbed beerman, Ravindra Kantrole has been convicted on murder charges.

Kantrole has been found guilty of murdering a man on a foot over bridge near Marine Lines in Mumbai on January 11, 2007. The victim was stabbed nearly 20 times on his chest, abdomen, arms and thighs.

Kantrole has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The killing was the last of seven serial murders between October 2006 and January 2007.

Although Kantrole was charged for three of the murders, he was acquitted in two cases. Kantrole is believed to have enticed his victim to drink beer before killing him.

Kantrole acquired the epithet 'beerman' because he allegedly left beer cans at the site of the murders.

This is the first case in which scientific evidence against the accused is much more than the circumstantial evidence. Police had attached reports of brain-mapping, narco-analysis, polygraph tests to lend weight to their case.
