New Delhi: Announcing lists of "most searched" or "most shared" before the year ends has been a trend for quite long. Many internet companies follow this trend and release various lists such as most searched video, most shared articles, most searched words and many others over the past year.

Following the trend, Bing yesterday released its list of "most searched" of 2011, and now Facebook has come up with one such list of 40 "most shared articles" of 2011 in the US on Facebook. The list includes stories, photo galleries and videos ranging from from cute to thought provoking pieces.

While stories from CNN domniate the list, there are stories from other portals like The New York Times, Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Yahoo and The Wall Street Journal.
