CHENNAI: Municipal Administration Minister K P Munusamy on Saturday continued his review of the Chennai Corporation’s efforts to tackle rainwater stagnation, road repair and garbage removal in the city limits.Chairing a meeting of top officials of the civic body, which was attended by Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy and Deputy Mayor Benjamin at Ripon Building, Munusamy took stock of the steps being taken by the urban body to drain out stagnant rainwater from different parts of the city.While briefing the Minister as well as Mayor, Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan said heavy rainwater inundation has been reported from about 158 locations across the city and the civic body had already moved its team and machinery to drain out the stagnant water.He also explained the Minister the measures taken to restore battered roads through patchworks. Munusamy also reviewed the garbage disposal operations in all the 15 zones during the rainy days and ordered the officials to expedite the work to avoid stagnation of garbage.
