Kolkata: Reporters and photographers today shouted at actors Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor and boycotted the press conference for their film 'The Dirty Picture' after they kept the media waiting for three hours.
The duo had called a press conference to promote their upcoming film at 11.30 am at Fame multiplex. But the media lost cool after they were kept waiting for three hours.
As the actors entered the venue, agitated journalists shouted at them and even told Vidya to call off the press conference and leave the spot.
Vidya, however, tried to pacify the fuming media by apologising for the delay and claimed that there was a communication gap with the media which resulted in the delay.
"I am sorry for whatever happened. I had asked my team to communicate to you that there will be a delay in the press conference," she said.
Her PR team, however, never told the media about the change in timings and whenever asked they kept claiming that the actors are on their way to the multiplex.
In no mood to listen, journalists forced them to call off the press conference.
What irked the media more was that Vidya had come late by around two hours for an event yesterday also.
Of late, Bollywood stars have faced the ire of the media for coming late by several hours. Similar incidents of media boycott have happened in Delhi and Mumbai earlier, but it was for the first time in recent memory that a major film star's event was boycotted in Kolkata.
