BANGALORE: Mayor Sharadamma on Tuesday directed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to reclaim the road that has been encroached upon by  Sobha Developers in Jakkur layout.A release from the BBMP said that Sharadamma inspected Jakkur, Doddabommasandra, Kodigehalli wards and directed the BBMP Town planning and zonal officers to remove the encroachment so that people can move around. The residents of Jakkur had complained to the mayor about the encroachment. In their complaint letter, they had written about the sanctioned 50-feet-road according to a comprehensive development plan.The letter also stated that Sobha Developers have encroached at least four guntas from the sanctioned road. This has caused inconvenience to the road users, the people mentioned in the letter.In ward number 5, the mayor visited the Palenahalli lake. She found that unauthorised sheds have encroached the lake space and directed officials to remove the same as soon as possible.Sharadamma also noticed that due to the rains, there is an overflow of water from this lake. She directed officials to construct a bridge for public convenience.During the mayor's inspection in ward number 8, corporator Ashwath Narayanagowda requested the mayor for the widening of the main road that connects Kodigehalli bus stop to Tatanagar through Nagashettyhalli. He suggested that since there is heavy traffic flow, the road needs to be widened. The mayor collected public opinion on the same issue.She also interacted with the owners who would lose their land due to road widening and directed officials for widening the road.Later Sharadamma inspected the houses constructed for Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe in Doddabommasandra ward. These houses are constructed at 22.75 per cent of the funds that have been earmarked for the SC/ST community during budget. Overall in the Yelahanka zone, out of the 546 houses sanctioned for SC/ST, 386 houses have been constructed. She directed the concerned authorities to complete the remaining houses.BBMP administration party leader B R Nanjundappa, corporator Muneendra Kumar, Ashwath Narayana Gowda and M E Pillappa were also present.
