CHENNAI: For all the cash-strapped romeos in the city who are still determined to make something of Valentine’s Day (Kadhalar Dhinam to the populace), the Marina is the one-stop destination. Gautham Sundar*, a student of Presidency College, ticks off the merits of using the Marina, “Cheap food, plenty of options, no space rent, games and entertainment and lots of space — what more can lovers expect in any place?” He also has a disclaimer to add, “If by some bad chance it doesn’t work out with that girl, then at least the loss of investment won’t be too high!”And if lovers happen to be there in the morning on February 14, they will have a sweet treat in store for them. Thanks to B Kumar Sri Sri, Founder of the Indian Lovers Party. The volunteers of this party will be going to all the couples on the Marina to give them sweets and wish them a bright future. The man was a little dejected that his Public Interest Litigation seeking all those “who are against love and causing trouble be stopped and restrained” was deferred on Monday. But his decision to stand for lovers across the world and contest in the Lok Sabha elections in South and Central Chennai, cheered him up no end. “The votes of the youth matter a lot. That’s why even anti-V-Day parties like the Shiv Sena have begun courting the youth and lovers for votes,” he says.
