A man held on suspicion of being an ISIS recruiter has been released by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after a day in custody, sources said Wednesday.
The terror suspect, Ismail Musab Abdul Rawoof, was detained at Pune airport on Tuesday evening as he was reportedly leaving the country for Syria.
Clarifying Rawoof was not arrested, NIA sources said he was detained for some verification, and that he might be called in as part of investigation again.
Security agencies had been keeping a strict vigil after his name cropped up during internet chats with members of the ISIS, which is being monitored by sleuths to look for possible followers of the terror group, active in parts of Syria and Iraq.
The ISIS recruiter was detained at 11 am on Tuesday, following which the IB and the NIA jointly interrogated him.They had said that the suspect was detained as the Union Home Ministry had issued a Look Out Circular against him sometime back.
