HYDERABAD: A housewife who went missing three days ago in Vanasthalipuram was found murdered in Srisailam forest on Monday. Cyberabad police said she was killed by her husband three days before their first anniversary. Police said that Ananthalakshmi had got married to Niranjan on May 23, 2010 but the relation between them was strained for the last many months. Niranjan was pressing her for divorce which she refused. Due to this, Niranjan allegedly murdered her with the help of friends. On May 14, Niranjan brought Ananthalakshmi to Hyderabad from Guntur on the pretext of enrolling her for spoken English classes in Vanasthalipuram. He made arrangements for her stay at Vijaya hostel. “She went missing on the morning of May 20. Her cousin Vijayalakshmi, who also lived in the hostel, lodged a complaint,” Vanasthalipuram police said. Niranjan had earlier informed Ananthalakshmi that he was shifting to Indore for higher studies. Ananthalakshmi attended two of her spoken English classes on May 18 and 19. “Niranjan informed his wife that on May 20 he would drop her to the institute. The victim who left the hostel that morning did not return,” police added.Police developed suspicion on Niranjan during investigation and after a thorough interrogation, Niranjan reportedly confessed to the crime. “The accused told us that Ananthalakshmi was brought to Hyderabad as part of the conspiracy to kill her. On May 20, she was taken straight to Srisailam forest and was attacked with sharp edged weapons. He killed her because she was not willing to divorce him,” police said. Ananthalakshmi’s uncle Gopi said for last several days, Niranjan had been behaving like a sadist. “We also came to know that he took drugs,” Gopi said.
