A probationary IAS officer stationed in Pune has been transferred before completing her training, following a series of controversies sparked by her demands, including for a separate cabin and staff.
Puja Khedkar, a 2023-batch IAS officer, has been reassigned to Washim district in central Maharashtra to complete the remainder of her training.
According to an official letter, Khedkar will serve as a “supernumerary assistant collector” until July 30, 2025.
Pune Collector Suhas Diwse submitted a report to the General Administration Department (GAD) detailing Khedkar’s actions. Even before commencing duty on June 3, Khedkar had repeatedly insisted on having a separate cabin, a car, residential quarters, and a peon.
Officials informed her that such entitlements are not provided during probationary periods, and suitable accommodation would be arranged for her. Despite this, Khedkar continued to press her demands.
The GAD report also highlighted an incident where Khedkar allegedly removed the nameplate of a senior official at the Pune collector’s office. This occurred when the official permitted her to use his ante-chamber as her office space.
Diwse, in his report, concluded it was not appropriate to allow Khedkar to continue her training in Pune.
