Locals protest after 1 killed, 24 left injured as bus overturned in Shravasti

One person was killed and two dozen others injured when a bus overturned in Bhinga area in Shravasti, triggering protests by locals who torched the bus and blocked the road.

The police said on Wednesday that Santosh Kumar (30) was killed when the bus carrying passengers overturned on his road-side shop on Bhinga-Bahraich route on Tuesday.

Agitated locals then torched the bus and staged a road block. In a bid to control the situation, the police used mild force, they said. Police said two dozen passengers sustained minor injuries and were being treated in the government hospital.
